Beaver Creek: Azzurre's Challenge

On Thursday evening (CET), the second downhill training took place in Beaver Creek in the US state of Colorado – with the usual suspects at the top.

Of course, you should never put too much weight on the results of a downhill training session, but the first three runners in the second exercise in Beaver Creek on Thursday are still impressive from an Italian perspective. Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone were two of the absolute fastest runners. The Azzurre duo were only beaten by Lara Gut-Behrami, who had already demonstrated her good form with a lead of 0,67 seconds over Goggia.

Behind Goggia and Brignone, Trentino's Laura Pirovano also showed a solid performance in eleventh place (+1,41 seconds). Close behind is Nadia Delago, who finished 1,45th, 13 seconds behind. Her sister Nicol finished her second training session after breaking her collarbone on September 12 in Argentina in 30th place (+3,07 seconds). Vicky Bernardi finished three places behind (+3,32), while Sara Thaler was 39th (+4,15).

The dress rehearsal will take place on Friday with the last training session. On Saturday, the first speed points of the season will be up for grabs in the downhill race (19 p.m.). The race weekend in Beaver Creek will be rounded off on Sunday with the Super-G.
