Two days after dominating the giant slalom, the 17-year-old from Völs am Schlern was also the undisputed star of the slalom. On Saturday, at the 2029 World Championship venue, Trocker beat second-placed Leonie Raich of Austria by a full 2,29 seconds – a huge margin in slalom. Third-placed Aada Kanto of Finland was already 3,78 seconds behind.
“Winning the giant slalom two days ago has given me a lot of peace of mind. Being able to compete against the best in the World Cup since last December has helped me a lot to develop further. The two gold medals are very important to me. The greatest reward, I think, is participating in the World Cup Finals in Hafjell in ten days,” Trocker explained afterwards.
Dryer brings about a novelty
Never before had an Italian skier managed to win both the slalom and giant slalom at the same Junior World Championships. A similar double victory was achieved by Giovanni Franzoni in Panorama in 2022 (downhill and combined), Nadia Fanchini in Bardonecchia in 2005 (giant slalom and downhill), Karen Putzer in Schladming in 1997 (giant slalom and super-G), and Morena Gallizio in Monte Campione in 1993 (slalom and combined).Anna Trocker was by far the fastest in the slalom.
For Trocker, who already caused a sensation at her Olympic debut in Cortina this year, this is her third medal at the championships in Narvik, after winning silver in the team combined with Ludovica Righi. The other Italian skiers, Giorgia Collomb and Victoria Klotz from Bolzano, were eliminated in the first run on Saturday. The Junior World Championships in Norway conclude on Sunday with the men's slalom.
