Brignone fights: “The road is still long”

After her serious fall in early April, Federica Brignone is working on her comeback. The Italian overall World Cup winner has now shared an insight into her rehabilitation.

After Federica Brignone suffered a double fracture with displacement of the tibial plateau and fibular head, as well as a cruciate ligament tear in her left leg, during the Italian Championships about three months ago, the two-time world champion is focused on rehabilitation. To optimally prepare for her return to the icy slopes of the World Cup, the reigning overall World Cup champion set up camp at JMedical in Turin, the medical center of the Juventus football club.

In the meantime, she has made great progress there, and in mid-May Brignone announced that the recovery is going better than expected. Now the Azzurra took her followers on social media with her and gave them an insight into her everyday life.

Brignone: “We’re making progress”

"97 days later and three months of rehab at JMedical," Brignone wrote under a video showing her performing various exercises at the medical center. It's striking that the 34-year-old can fully bear weight on her leg again; the large scar on her left leg is a reminder of the devastating fall. Despite these images, the ski star is aware of the difficulty of the task ahead. "The road is still long, but progress is being made," she concluded her Instagram post.

Brignone's ultimate goal is, of course, to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo. About a month ago, she remained tight-lipped about the matter. "I will try to participate in the Olympic Games, I am working on it, but unfortunately I cannot say today whether I will be there, and I will not be able to in a month and a half either," Brignone was told by the Corriere della Sera quoted. However, recent images suggest that she is on the right track.
