Dominik Paris's anger: "Let's see what happened there."

After winning the bronze medal in the Olympic downhill, Dominik Paris was ready for Wednesday's Super-G. But after a good start, the skier from Ultental didn't get far – because his equipment failed.

“I felt very comfortable and I think the start was also good,” Dominik Paris described in an interview with the ORF his Super-G run. What happened next is something even the South Tyrolean speed star can't quite explain yet. The fact is, the binding on his right ski released upon impact. Olympic Super-G That was the end of the line on the Stelvio.

“I have no idea if something broke in the binding and that’s why it came undone,” Paris said, searching for the cause. “It’s definitely a real shame when you give it your all and prepare for these special moments – together with your ski technician.” That technician is Josef Zanon, who has been by the 36-year-old’s side his entire career.

ORFExpert Hans Knauß commented: "That was just incredibly bad luck. Dominik wanted to turn, wasn't excessively on his inside ski, and the binding simply released. I can't see any skiing error there. It's really bitter when something like that happens at the Olympics."
