Baby number 2: A Kitzbühel hero in luck

The ski family is growing: A multiple World Cup winner can look forward to the arrival of his new child.

The father with his son in his arms, the mother with her visible baby bump leaning slightly to the side: It's a romantic image that's currently captivating the ski world. It was posted by Mattias Hargin, the former slalom skier, who explained in the post: "This September our family will be growing."

The winner of the 2015 Kitzbühel slalom is becoming a father for the second time. Hargin, 40, and his fiancée Lovisa already became parents to little Oliver in December 2024.

Kitzbühel victory and tragic turn of events

Mattias Hargin's eventful life has thus gained another chapter. During his active career, the Swede was among the world's best slalom skiers, reaching the World Cup podium ten times, three of those victories. However, Hargin's career was also marked by tragedy: his wife, Matila, was killed in an avalanche in Chile in July 2016.

At that time, the Swede's world was turned upside down, and he even briefly considered quitting the sport. But then Hargin fought his way back not only onto the ski circuit but also into life. And he found a new love with Lovisa. A love that is now being crowned with their second child.
