Kilde mom’s worries: “It’s heartbreaking”

It's been two weeks now, but Aleksander Aamodt Kilde's horror fall in Wengen continues to attract a lot of attention. Now through an emotional posting from the Kilde mom.

It's hard to imagine what was going through Kristina Aamodt Kilde's head on January 13th. On the Wengen descent, her son Aleksander crashed into the safety net shortly before the finish. “It’s heartbreaking to witness something like this as a mom and dad,” she wrote in a post on social media.

“It is a harsh reminder of the risks that exist in this sport. Despite mentally preparing for such moments, the reality is really harsh. Now that Aleksander is starting the difficult journey back, our smiles and optimism are growing again,” said the Norwegian.

A special thank you from the Kilde mother goes to the Shiffrin family. Ski queen Mikaela, Aleksander's friend, immediately came to Bern with her mother, her brother and his wife and supported Kilde in these difficult hours. “A big thank you to you for getting on the plane that same afternoon and coming to us,” writes Kristina.

Just at the beginning of the week, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde posted pictures of his injured lower leg on social media, showing how brutally it hit him. The Norwegian announced that he would have to sit in a wheelchair for seven weeks.
