“Dramatic injury”: ÖSV downhill skier falls badly

Three weeks ago, Christoph Krenn made people sit up and take notice with 3th place in the Super-G in Kvitfjell, now the Austrian is seriously injured in his hospital bed. His coach speaks of a “dramatic injury”.

The season is over for Christoph Krenn after a serious fall in the European Cup Super-G in Verbier (SUI). The 29-year-old from Lower Austria suffered a fracture of the tibial plateau as well as a torn cruciate and lateral ligament in his left leg. He will be operated on on Saturday in the accident hospital in Graz. It is not yet clear how long Krenn will be out.

“The diagnosis is of course a shock for all of us. Christoph fought back really well and recently finished strongly in the points twice in the Super-G World Cup. In the European Cup he also still had a chance of a permanent place in the speed disciplines,” said head coach Marko Pfeifer, who spoke of a “dramatic injury”.
