Three-way battle for Semmering victory – and Brignone in the middle

The women's giant slalom stars will be battling for victory in Semmering on Saturday. It all comes down to a three-way battle. The decision will be made at 13 p.m.

"We are all very close together. It will be an exciting second run," said Federica Brignone after the first run in Semmering. In the giant slalom on the Magic Mountain, the Aostanian was the fastest and is aiming for her second win of the season. But her two biggest competitors are currently lurking right behind her.

Second place went to the reigning overall World Cup winner Lara Gut-Behrami, who was only 2 hundredths of a second behind. Third place went to Sara Hector, who crossed the finish line 15 seconds behind. So it all comes down to a spectacular three-way battle between the three giant slalom stars.

But be careful: Paula Moltzan (+0,53 seconds), Valerie Grenier (+0,56), Alice Robinson (+0,61) and even Marta Bassino (+0,86) should not be written off either. The second run starts at 13 p.m.

Elisa Platino from Merano will not be taking part. The 25-year-old did not have a good run with starting number 30 and crossed the finish line 3,57 seconds behind. Platino placed well outside the top 30.
