A big Kitzbüheler will celebrate many anniversaries in 2024

It won't be the dashing Hansi's only anniversary in 2024. The man who is a phenomenon not only because of his blonde hair, but also because of his fur moon boots and his always bright ski suits.

Even before that, on January 27th, it will be the 50th anniversary of the former exceptional ski racer Hinterseer winning the Kitzbühel World Cup slalom. The then only 19-year-old came out ahead of his Austrian teammate Johann Kniewasser and Gustav Thöni. The Trafoier was already 1,34 seconds behind on the Ganslernhang, with Carlo Demetz from Val Gardena, another South Tyrolean, finishing eighth in the top 10.

While Hinterseer sings about a lot of schmaltz, love and heartbreak in his songs, his childhood was marked by many hardships. He no longer has any contact with his father Ernst and his mother, especially since he grew up with his grandparents.
