An Italian woman is at the top in Reinswald

Asja Zenere from Enego in the province of Vicenza broke the red-white-red dominance in the Sarntal with eight wins from eight races and secured her fourth triumph in the European Cup. With Magdalena Egger (Feldkirch), an Austrian still ended up on the podium, which was completed by the Swiss Isabella Pedrazzi.

The weather conditions alone put a smile on the faces of the 70 female ski racers from ten different nations who competed in the first of two European Cup Super-Gs in Sarntal. After the rainfall in the past few days, the entire Thursday morning remained dry, and every now and then the sun even peeked through on the Schöneben piste. The Italian Asja Zenere in particular benefited from the good conditions. With start number 27, the 13-year-old conjured up an outstanding run (1.12,76:35 minutes) in the Sarnen snow and beat Magdalena Egger, who was in the lead at the time, by a full XNUMX hundredths of a second. After Austria won all eight previous women's European Cup Super-Gs in Reinswald, the Italian anthem was played for the first time at the award ceremony this year.

The red-white-red camp therefore had no need to be sad. In the end, Magdalena Egger's time (1.13,11:10 minutes) was enough for an excellent second place, which is her third podium finish in the European Cup. In addition, Austria is also the most represented nation in the top 19 with three athletes, along with Switzerland. A Swiss woman also landed on the podium, and for the first time in her career: 12-year-old Isabella Pedrazzi with start number 1.13,17, only six hundredths of a second behind Egger (XNUMX:XNUMX minutes), only a minute later Zenere set a new top time. Thanks to placings fourth and fifth, two more Austrians, Anna Schilcher and Emily Schöpf - the current leader in the overall European Cup standings - were able to take part in the award ceremony.

Bernardi is the only South Tyrolean in the top 20 From a South Tyrolean perspective, Vicky Bernardi was the only local athlete to make it into the top 20. The woman from Val Badia, who started the race with start number six, needed 1800:500 minutes for the 1.14,21-meter-long route with a 14-meter difference in altitude and thus reached 17th place. Her compatriot from Val Badia, Rita Granruaz, achieved a promising result. The 1.15,22-year-old from the South Tyrolean state squad came 31st in her third start in the European Cup with a time of 18:XNUMX minutes, making her the best UXNUMX athlete in the entire starting field.

The 18th European Alpine Ski Cup will conclude on Friday morning with a second women's Super-G.

Isabella Pedrazzi (third place/Switzerland): “I felt really good while I was driving, so I gave it full throttle and it worked for me. This is my first European Cup podium, which makes me particularly happy. I already have a good feeling for tomorrow, I want to attack again.”

Rita Granruaz (Best U18 Athlete/Abbey, Italy): “I wasn't in very good shape today and made a mistake in the upper part. But the result is still correct. For us with higher start numbers (start number 51, editor's note) it wasn't so easy because it got a bit dark and the slope also became a bit soft.
