Ski ace struggles with the consequences of a serious injury.

Unlucky skier: From one operation to the next

Her injury caused a shock in the ski world. Now the Canadian speed specialist makes it clear how hard the road back is.

These scenes sent shivers down your spine. On the descent from Val d'Isére in mid-December, Stefanie Fleckenstein fell so badly shortly before the finish that she screamed her heart out in pain. A little later the diagnosis came: a dislocated knee, several fractures to the shin and damaged ligaments.

Fleckenstein had to undergo three operations shortly after her serious injury. Now the fourth procedure followed. “We did a little surgery to see how my leg was healing and to increase the flexion in my knee. "I'm stuck at 90 degrees right now, so it was really exciting to see my knee gain full flexion during surgery," the 26-year-old wrote on Instagram.

However, that wasn't the last operation. “I will now continue to work hard so that I can have my cruciate ligament repaired soon,” she says with regard to another operation. Stefanie Fleckenstein still has a long way to go.
