There is something romantic about the story of the two former ski stars Marie-Michele Gagnon (35) and Travis Ganong (35). For years, the lovers caused a sensation on the World Cup slopes around the globe, then in spring 2023 they ended their careers together, have been exploring the world and enjoying life ever since. Now a very special highlight is coming up for the Canadian and the American.

The long-awaited wedding is about to take place. Marie-Michele Gagnon announced this on Instagram. "Less than a month away," she wrote on a photo of her and Travis. The emojis of a bride and groom as well as two hearts are clear indications of the upcoming, unforgettable celebration. The two have been engaged for three years.

Curious name question

A big question will be answered in a month: What name will Marie-Michel Gagnon take? After all, her fiancé and soon-to-be husband Travis has the surname Ganong, which sounds confusingly similar.

The two ski stars have certainly left their mark in their careers. All-rounder Marie-Michele was in the starting gate for 273 World Cup races and won two times, while downhill skier Travis (189 World Cup races) also beamed from the highest podium twice and became Vice World Champion in Vail/Beaver Creek in 2015. The couple's farewell from the skiing stage was also strange: a year ago they raced down the slopes in bride and groom costumes.
