Enraged Neureuther: "Disrespectful to the family"

Felix Neureuther is someone who doesn't mince his words. And so the former German ski star has now commented on Lindsey Vonn's fall.

The fact that a scene is still a topic of conversation a month later speaks volumes. And so, Lindsey Vonn's brutal crash – which occurred on February 8th at the Olympic Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo – continues to cast its shadow to this day. The crash, in which Vonn suffered a severe lower leg injury, is particularly etched in the memory of Felix Neureuther.

In an interview with the Sports picture The 41-year-old was recently asked about this incident – and a considerable amount of anger crept into the former ski star's response. The reason lies in the TV broadcast.

"These are extremely painful moments, and at a certain point, cameras and microphones have no place there anymore," said Neureuther. Vonn's cries of pain could be heard on TV, and Neureuther had already demanded during the live broadcast that the sound be turned off.

“That moment with Lindsey hurt me incredibly because I know what she must have gone through. I found the way the TV footage and sound were handled very inappropriate and disrespectful to her family. I didn't understand at the time why the Welt director kept filming it,” said Neureuther.

I disagree with Felix! If it's a live broadcast, when someone complains, shouts, cries, or cheers, you should hear or see it; that's what makes sport special and what defines it.
