European Cup: Kastlunger finishes in the top 10 in Schladming

Two giant slalom races took place in Schladming (AUT) on Wednesday. There were no podium finishes for the Italian skiers, but a number of good results.

In the men's race, three South Tyroleans finished in the top 30. The best of them was Tobias Kastlunger, who came in eighth, 1,40 seconds behind the winner. Hannes Zingerle from Stern/La Ila finished 16th (+2,53), and Simon Maurberger, in 28th place, earned three European Cup points (+4,25).


The podium featured two Norwegians and a Frenchman. Hans Grahl-Madsen took the victory ahead of Guerlain Favre (+0,94) and his compatriot Halvor Gunleiksrud (+0,95).

A Swiss skier took the women's title. Sue Piller finished ahead of Sweden's Sophie Nyberg (+0,30) and her teammate Daniela Allenbach (+0,96). The best Italian skier was Ilaria Ghisalberti in fifth place. Sophie Mathiou also finished in the top ten, coming in eighth. The best South Tyrolean skier was Laura Steinmair in 13th place (+2,77).
