Shiffrin & Co. are playing for a lot of prize money.

The Ski World Cup continues on Tuesday evening with a night slalom in Flachau (Austria). The highest prize money in the women's circuit, €70.000, is up for grabs.

Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) and Camille Rast (SUI) are the top contenders. Before the Winter Games, the women only have the slalom in Spindleruv Mlyn on January 25th on their schedule, followed by races in Åre and Lillehammer.

With a 218-point lead over Rast, the five-time season winner and recent runner-up in Kranjska Gora could clinch her ninth slalom globe in the Czech Republic if everything goes perfectly. Shiffrin has already been crowned "Snow Space Salzburg Princess" five times in Flachau and has never finished lower than third in any appearance there since 2013.

No South Tyrolean woman in Flachau

Six Italian athletes have been nominated for Flachau: Lara Della Mea, Martina Peterlini, Giulia Valleriani, Emilia Mondinelli, Beatrice Sola, and Giada D'Antonio. No athletes from South Tyrol are participating. The competition starts on Tuesday evening at 5:45 p.m., with the final beginning at 8:45 p.m.
