Goggia in focus in St. Moritz: “I knew I was fast”

Two Super-Gs are scheduled for the women's ski races in St. Moritz. One of the big favorites is Sofia Goggia. The Italian is back to her old self after her injury break.

While the men are staying in Val Gardena and moving to Alta Badia on Sunday, the women's ski world cup is stopping off in St. Moritz this weekend. There, the focus is not only on Lindsey Vonn's comeback, but also on Sofia Goggia, who has had a sensational start to the winter.

"I'm very happy with my return," says Goggia before the two Super-G races in St. Moritz. The Italian is just as strong after her comeback as she was before. "I trained very well in Copper Mountain and I knew that I could be fast. Sometimes it's even easier to compete in races after an injury break because there aren't high expectations," says Goggia.

The fact is that the Bergamaskin is also a hot topic in St. Moritz. Last year, Goggia won the Super-G in the exclusive Swiss ski resort.

But Goggia is not the only one who knows what it feels like to win in St. Moritz. Federica Brignone has also won there (2021). "I really like it in St. Moritz. The slopes are difficult and varied. Challenges motivate me even more," says Brignone.
