Goggia and Brignone get serious about training

Next weekend, the women's ski World Cup is scheduled to take place in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone underlined their ambitions in the second downhill training session on Friday.

Which athlete is not revealing her cards, who is already going full throttle? In downhill training, many professionals choose a different approach. Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone were among the skiers who were already making an impact on the legendary Olimpia delle Tofane on Friday. Olympic champion Goggia took the best time of 1.34,63:0,68 minutes, followed by her Lombard compatriot Brignone (+0,69 seconds). The Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami (+XNUMX) came in third.

"I have to admit that the slope is really perfect," enthused Goggia after training. "It's a pleasure to ski on it." After making a few mistakes the day before, she was able to make up for it now. Before the descent on Saturday (11.00 a.m.), the Bergamaskin is just about details.

Vonn takes it easy after fall

Lindsey Vonn caused a stir in the first training session on Thursday. One day later, the American competed again, but this time she took it easy. In the end, the 40-year-old, who recently came fourth in the Super-G in St. Anton am Arlberg, finished in 40th place (+3,39).

In addition to Goggia and Brignone, seven other Azzurre were competing on the Olimpia delle Tofane. Elena Curtoni (17th/+1,79), Nadia Delago (20th/+1,88), Nicol Delago (22nd/+2,01), Marta Bassino (28th/+2,31) and Laura Pirovano (29th/+2,34) all finished in the top 30. Sara Thaler (35th/+2,85), Roberta Melesi (38th/+3,20) and Vicky Bernardi (44th/+4,39) were further back.

There are two speed races in Cortina this weekend. The downhill race starts on Saturday at 11.00 a.m., followed by the Super-G on Sunday (11.00 a.m.).
