Italy's ski federation is fielding an exceptionally young team for the World Cup races in Spindleruv Mlyn. Experienced skiers like Sofia Goggia are taking a break, giving numerous young athletes their chance in the World Cup.

Giorgia Collomb (19), Anna Trocker (17), and Giada D'Antonio (16) – the Italian national team will start in Spindleruv Mlyn (CZE) with an extremely young squad. The more experienced athletes, such as Emilia Mondinelli, Giulia Valleriani (both 21), Lara Della Mea, Asja Zenere (27), and Martina Peterlini (28), will have to carry the team through the technical weekend in the Czech Republic.
Even the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) speaks of a "green line" in Spindleruv Mlyn. This is also because Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone (who only made her comeback this week at Kronplatz) will be taking a break.
From a South Tyrolean perspective, it's encouraging that at least two athletes will be competing in Spindleruv Mlyn. Besides Trocker, Laura Steinmair from the Puster Valley will also have the opportunity to prove herself. A giant slalom and a slalom will be held in the Czech Republic.
