Italian woman does what she wants in the European Cup

Her teammates are competing this weekend in Spindleruv Mlyn (Czech Republic). Alice Pazzaglia, on the other hand, dominated the European Cup in Chamonix (France) on Friday and Saturday.

The 23-year-old had recently finished in the points three times in a row in the Giant Slalom World Cup. Nevertheless, she preferred to compete in the European Cup this weekend to extend her lead in the overall standings. This would secure her a guaranteed spot in the World Cup in all disciplines for the upcoming season. The plan worked: After her victory on Friday, she was once again in a class of her own 24 hours later in Chamonix.

Pazzaglia was in fourth place at the halfway point, behind Switzerland's Janine Mächler, her teammate Ambra Pomare, and Sweden's Moa Landström. Thanks to a furious second run, she catapulted herself into first place. Landström finished second, 24 hundredths of a second behind, and her compatriot Moa Boström Mussener completed the podium.

A guaranteed spot in the World Cup is within reach.

With this victory, Pazzaglia not only extended her lead in the overall standings to 190 points over her teammate Sara Allemand, but also took over the lead in the Slalom European Cup. There, she now sits 85 points ahead of Giulia Valleriani, who did not compete on Saturday.

The best South Tyrolean was 17-year-old Victoria Klotz, who finished 22nd in her sixth European Cup race, scoring points for the first time. Celina Haller, however, was eliminated in the final stage after being in 14th place at the halfway point.
