Josef Ferstl: A forced break from skiing with a sweet aftertaste

“Just briefly, so everyone knows: six to eight weeks break,” Josef Ferstl posted on social media a few days ago. The reason for this pit stop is a serious hip injury that the 34-year-old has been dealing with for several months.

“At the end of the preparation for this 22/23 season, I injured the bursa on my left hip, so far it wasn't serious, but as I continued to ski, it became more and more inflamed, causing such great pain that it was no longer possible to ski XNUMX% “To be able to drive,” explains Ferstl, who won two World Cup races in his career.

The German even considered canceling the season, but then bit his teeth. “After the World Cup final it was over immediately and now I have to take this forced break. Very bitter for me, but the only right decision so that I can prepare 100 percent for the coming winter,” said Ferstl, who not only missed the German championships, but also the important material tests that traditionally take place after the end of the World Cup .

Time for family and FC Bayern But Ferstl also sees the positive aspects of this forced break. “At least in the next few weeks I'll have more time for the things that I usually don't have much time for. For my family, friends, dog, Schafkopfen and FC Bayern,” writes the husband, father of two and ardent fan of the German football record champions.
