Shock before the Olympics: Ski superstar not nominated

This is a bombshell: A ski superstar was not nominated for his big goal – the Olympic Games.

On Monday, the French Olympic Committee announced its roster for the Winter Games. However, the most famous name in the skiing nation was missing from the list: Alexis Pinturault! The superstar from Courchevel was not selected for the championships in Milan and Cortina. This is a bitter blow for him.

The 34-year-old won the overall World Cup title, three gold medals at World Championships, and three medals (one silver and two bronze) at the Olympic Games. But now his last major career highlight will elude him.

Pinturault suffered serious knee injuries in January of each of the past two years. This season, the Frenchman made his World Cup comeback, but limited himself to the giant slalom. However, the veteran never managed to crack the top 10; his best result was an 11th place. Not enough to secure an Olympic spot.

Is this the end of his career? That's not yet clear. Pinturault announced upon his comeback that he intends to hang up his skis no later than after the 2026/27 season.
