After the first round: Shiffrin is in a league of his own.

During the first run, there were quite a few bewildered faces in the finish area in Spindleruv Mlyn (Czech Republic). This wasn't due to the cloudy and, especially in the upper part of the course, very foggy conditions, but rather to the sight of the scoreboard. After just one run, the runners were already facing significant deficits – solely attributable to the performance of one athlete who, wearing bib number 1, left everyone else behind: Mikaela Shiffrin.

No one came within a second of the American. Her closest pursuer, Wendy Holdener, is in second place, 1,26 seconds behind, followed by Camille Rast and Paula Moltzan (both +1,47 seconds). Shiffrin was simply in a league of her own in the first run and is therefore considered the overwhelming favorite for the second run, which starts at 12:15 pm.

The ski superstar skied down the course as if on rails, showing no signs of uncertainty and making the run look like child's play, while other athletes simply couldn't find their rhythm. Her fiercest rival, Camille Rast, made a small mistake in the flatter middle section, which significantly increased her deficit.

Azzurre follow

Even Lara Della Mea, the strongest Italian in the technical disciplines recently, failed to produce a brilliant performance. She finished the first run outside the top 30, as did Giada D'Antonio. The Italians who qualified for the second run were Martina Peterlini (23rd place) and Emilia Martinelli (30th place). Lara Colturi, competing for Albania, was eliminated.
