About a month after her second surgery on her left knee, there's good news from Marta Bassino. The 30-year-old from Cuneo, who missed the entire Olympic season due to a serious injury, is already able to train at high intensity again. The two-time world champion is currently working on her strength training and fitness in her hometown of Borgo San Dalmazzo.
Bassino underwent surgery again on May 27th. The plate that had been inserted after her shin injury was removed, and her knee joint was also checked. The procedure went according to plan, and just a few days later Bassino was able to begin her first dry-land training session.
The former Super-G world champion suffered a serious fall during training in Schnals at the end of October 2025. She sustained a broken tibia as well as injuries to her knee and meniscus. As a result, Bassino missed the entire Olympic season and thus also the home Games in Cortina.
In August to Argentina
Bassino was already back on skis in the spring. Now the next important step follows in the summer. From August 23rd, the Azzurra will train in Ushuaia, Argentina.Bassino should be able to train in all disciplines there. She still needs to catch up, especially in Super-G and downhill. Together with Sofia Goggia and Laura Pirovano, she plans to gather valuable training days in South America.
