Ski superstar Marcel Hirscher caused a stir with an announcement on social media.

While the ski world wonders whether Marcel Hirscher will return to the World Cup after his cruciate ligament tear, the Austrian is working diligently behind the scenes on his own ski brand, Van Deer. Four years have passed since Hirscher launched his own collection and entered the men's World Cup circuit.

Now comes an announcement from the eight-time overall World Cup winner. "It's time for the next step: women's racing, welcome!" This means that in the future, one or more star female skiers in the World Cup will also rely on Van Deer equipment.

Who will be joining Hirscher's team?

“It was clear to us from the beginning that we also wanted to gain a foothold in women’s racing. Now the time is right for it. The ski lengths are shorter, the setups are slightly different, but it’s still about the same thing: getting to the finish line as fast as possible,” said Hirscher.

It will be interesting to see which athletes Hirscher signs for the upcoming season. One name is already confirmed: Paula Moltzan. The American, who won bronze in the team combined at the Olympics, recently announced her departure from Rossignol and officially joined Hirscher's team on Wednesday.
