Fresh snow in Cortina: Downhill training cancelled

The first downhill training run for the alpine ski racers at the Winter Olympics, scheduled for Thursday, has been cancelled due to the weather.

Due to persistent snowfall and poor forecasts, the first training run on the Tofana slope in Cortina d'Ampezzo was cancelled on Wednesday afternoon. Further training runs for the Olympic downhill are scheduled for Friday and Saturday (11:30 a.m. each day), with the race itself planned for Sunday (11:30 a.m.).

The men, however, completed their first training session in Bormio on Wednesday. American Ryan Cochran-Siegle was the fastest.
