Ginnis after the end of the season: “Every setback is an opportunity”

Last week, the news of AJ Ginnis' injury-related retirement hit the skiing world hard. Now the Greek has shared his dire diagnosis on social media.

At the beginning, the ski racer assured once again that he has to miss the entire season. The reason for this is an operation that became necessary after a bone fragment in his knee broke off. This piece came from so-called osteophytes - bony growths that had formed in his knee joint as a result of several previous operations.

"What I thought would be a quick cleaning of the joint turned into a comprehensive operation that will end the season for me," the athlete explained in a message to his fans. Nevertheless, he was relieved and is optimistic about the future: "I hope to be able to live and ride with less pain in the future."

The goal clearly in mind

Although the disappointment about the premature end of the season is great, the athlete's focus remains clear: rehabilitation is the top priority - with the goal of returning to the skis stronger. He stressed the importance of the support of sponsors, friends and his team, who are by his side during this difficult phase. "The work you put into something never goes away," he wrote. "Every setback presents an opportunity, and I'm looking forward to getting back on skis and doing what I love."

The athlete is approaching the coming months of regeneration with a mixture of gratitude and determination. While the skiing world awaits his return to the slopes, the Slalom European Cup is entering its next round - this time in Val di Fassa and Obereggen. Also missing will be the Swiss Reto Schmidiger, who recently ended his career.
