Noel on course for victory at “Ausfall Festival” in Aspen

Clement Noel is on course for victory at the World Cup Slalom in Aspen: With a strong run, he achieved the best time in the first round on Sunday.

Noel drove technically well and became faster and faster. In the end, the Frenchman prevailed 0,27 seconds ahead of the Swiss Loic Meillard. Third-placed Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen is already 1,07 seconds behind.

The North Tyrolean Manuel Feller, who is in the lead in the slalom discipline rankings, had to be content with 9th place (+1,55). The German Linus Straßer is 6th (+1,37); he is currently 204 points behind Feller's opponent for the slalom crystal. Tommaso Sala is the best Azzurro in 8th place.

Vinatzer barely manages to qualify

Alex Vinatzer from Val Gardena narrowly managed to qualify for the second run of the top 2. He finished the first round in 30th place after a serious mistake. He was 1 seconds behind Noel. Tobias Kastlunger from Enneberg clearly missed qualifying for the second round in 27th place. The race was marked by numerous failures; a total of 3,34 athletes were eliminated.

Due to heavy snowfall the night before the slalom, the race was pushed back an hour and started at 18 p.m. (10 a.m. local time in Colorado).

The decisive second round begins at 2 p.m. With the SportNews live ticker don't miss anything.
