Norway – with a Brazilian touch – dominates in Wengen
Three Norwegians, one of whom competes for Brazil, stood on the podium at the Wengen slalom. The finale of the 2026 Lauberhorn races was a nail-biter. However, there wasn't much to be gained for the Italian athletes.

Alex Vinatzer, Tommaso Sala, and surprise contender Tommaso Saccardi qualified for the second run in Wengen. However, the Italians failed to pull off a major upset – quite the opposite, in fact. Saccardi (who qualified with bib number 59) was eliminated, Sala dropped four places to finish 26th, and Vinatzer also failed to mount a comeback. At least the driver from Wolkenstein managed to improve his position by two places, finishing in 13th.
Things went better for Matthias Itten (SUI) and Eirik Solberg (NOR). Both improved their positions by a remarkable 17 places in the Lauberhorn final. Itten even managed to finish in 6th place. Solberg also made it into the top ten, finishing 10th.
McGrath and Braathen at the very front
The victory was contested among Solberg's compatriots. Henrik Kristoffersen finished third, but was already 81 hundredths of a second behind Atle Lie McGrath. The leader at the halfway point kept his composure and thus defended his title in Wengen. McGrath had also won the previous year. Lucas Braathen, who, as is well known, now races for Brazil, finished second. McGrath's best friend was in fourth place after the first run.Edit Profile
