Official: Christof Innerhofer is newly in love

Even at 41, Christof Innerhofer has remained loyal to the ski circuit for another season. Now, the Gais native has also revealed a private secret: Innerhofer is on cloud nine.

After revealing earlier this year that he was newly in love, the South Tyrolean speed specialist has now officially introduced the woman by his side: Austrian model Melanie Gattringer. The couple made their relationship public with a joint Instagram video.

In it, Gattringer followed the currently popular "love" trend and secretly filmed her partner several times. Innerhofer initially appeared unaware, but ultimately reacted with an adoring smile. "So happy to have you," the ski star wrote under the post.

The 32-year-old Gattringer began her modeling career as a teenager. In 2014, she was crowned Miss Mühlviertel, and later achieved top placements in the Miss Upper Austria and Miss Austria pageants. She also worked as a grid girl at the Formula 1 race in Spielberg, among other things.

Innerhofer is far from thinking about retiring from the sport. This coming winter, the South Tyrolean will compete in his 21st World Cup season. Following the retirement of Frenchman Adrien Théaux, he is currently the oldest active athlete in the Ski World Cup. With several top-10 finishes last season, the World Championship and Olympic medalist also proved that he is still a force to be reckoned with.
