Podium in Crans Montana: Paris in top form before the Olympics
Just days before the start of the 2026 Winter Olympics, Dominik Paris is showing strong form. The skier from Ultental finished second in the downhill race in Crans Montana. But: Other Italians are also giving reason for optimism for the home Games.

Dominik Paris is in top form ahead of the 2026 Olympics, ready for his favorite course in Bormio. Although the outstanding Franjo von Allmen (a full 65 hundredths of a second ahead) snatched the downhill victory from the Ultental native in the dress rehearsal for next year's World Ski Championships in Crans Montana, the rest of the field lagged behind the South Tyrolean. While Paris is still waiting for his first win of the season, this is his second podium finish after third place in Val Gardena.
It wasn't just Paris who put on a strong showing, but the entire Italian speed team. Florian Schieder (9th) and Mattia Casse (7th), who had performed best in training, achieved top results, as did Benjamin Alliod. The 26-year-old from Aosta was the surprise performer on Sunday in Crans Montana, finishing fifth – his best World Cup result – despite a major mistake in the middle section. It hardly mattered that rising star Giovanni Franzoni, finishing 1,74 seconds behind von Allmen, didn't perform as well as in recent races. Christof Innerhofer (+1,73) skied at a similar level to Franzoni.

Ryan Cochran-Siegle's third-place finish, completing the podium, was not entirely surprising. The American had already finished second in Beaver Creek and sixth in Wengen earlier this season.Edit Profile
