Rast leads in Slovenia – South Tyrolean women miss second run

Switzerland's Camille Rast is in the lead after the first run of the World Cup giant slalom in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. Lara Steinmair from Olang and 17-year-old Anna Trocker from Völs missed the decisive second run by a considerable margin.

Rast started Saturday morning with bib number one and laid down a blistering time that no one could match. The Swiss skier leads ahead of American Paula Moltzan (+0,33 seconds) and Italian Lara Colturi (+0,37), who competes for Albania. Mikaela Shiffrin (+0,38) and Austrian Julia Scheib (+0,41) are close behind.

New Zealand favorite Alice Robinson was eliminated again.
Regardless of the outcome, it is already certain that Scheib will retain the lead in the Giant Slalom World Cup after the sixth of ten races this season. Robinson, Scheib's toughest competitor in the battle for the overall title, struggled on her coach's course. She over-rotated, finishing almost a second behind Rast, before her inside ski caught.

Meanwhile, there was nothing to be gained for the two South Tyrolean women. Laura Steinmair from Olang finished no higher than 42nd place (+3,75). Anna Trocker from Völs, only 17 years old, was eliminated.

The decisive second run is scheduled to start at 13 p.m. With the SportNews live ticker You are guaranteed not to miss anything.
