Relentlessly on the road to a third World Cup victory

At Semmering a week ago, she had to settle for second place twice, just as she had at the World Cup in France the previous week. Now she has achieved her third World Cup victory ever. Swiss skier Camille Rast was unbeatable on Saturday in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia.

Rast had finished second in each of the last three World Cup races – the slalom in Courchevel, and the giant slalom and slalom in Semmering. In Kranjska Gora, the 26-year-old Swiss skier secured her third World Cup victory overall, her first in a giant slalom.

Rast, who was already leading after the first run, kept her composure in the second and ultimately won ahead of Austria's Julia Scheib (+0,20) and American Paula Moltzan (+0,47). Scheib thus maintains her lead in the discipline standings. New Zealand's Alice Robinson, one of the favorites, was eliminated in the first run.

Italian Lara Colturi, competing for Albania, had to settle for sixth place after being in third at the halfway point. Lara Della Mea was the best Italian skier in tenth place, followed by Sofia Goggia in eleventh. Laura Steinmair from Oiang and the 17-year-old Anna Trocker from Völs were eliminated in the first run. Steinmair finished no higher than 42nd, while Trocker was knocked out.
