After a grueling season, it's off on holiday: that's the motto for many top skiers right now. But one professional will never forget this holiday: British slalom skier Billy Major brought back a special gift from his trip: the 29-year-old proposed to his long-time girlfriend, Olivia.

"I'm leaving Greece engaged," Major wrote alongside several photos showing the beaming couple. On the island of Kefalonia – a holiday paradise with sandy coves and picturesque sea – the Briton proposed to his girlfriend, an artist. And Olivia said yes.

This means Major has a major personal highlight to look forward to after the Olympic season. The 29-year-old has been fighting his way through the ski world for several years, demonstrating great perseverance and talent as something of an "exotic" competitor.

In March 2025, the Briton achieved his best career result in the World Cup slalom in Hafjell; in the past season, a 17th place was Major's best result. His biggest personal victory, however, came with his engagement to his girlfriend.
