“Don’t say anything stupid”: fuss about ski star Kristoffersen

If Henrik Kristoffersen doesn't like something, he says it clearly. However, the statements he made in the recently released documentary “Outsider Henrik” will not necessarily be received with goodwill by the Norwegian ski team. Because the 28-year-old star attacked one of the Norwegian coaches.

The reason for this is a giant slalom from the previous season, namely that in Kranjska Gora. This was the third to last race of the winter in this discipline and was won by Kristoffersen. However, the Norwegian had a lot of anger in his stomach, which apparently hasn't completely gone away even today.

Fast instead of technical Kristoffersen was in the lead in the first round of that giant slalom. A Norwegian coach took part in the second run. However, he set the course so that it was very fast - and not that technically demanding. So exactly the opposite of what would benefit Kristoffersen. “Where is the knowledge?” asked the ski star in the documentary and explained: “The route was not well laid out for me. It was really well set up for Marco Odermatt, who was on the podium in the downhill and won the Super-G race.”

Kristoffersen obviously felt disadvantaged - and by a coach from his country. “When I saw the course set, it just felt wrong to me. But the best thing there is is when you can prove people wrong.” And the Norwegian did that impressively because he grabbed the victory. According to a report by NRK It is clear that Kristoffersen's father was afraid that his son would express his clear opinion in the television interviews. “Don’t say anything stupid,” was the clear message.

The coach defends himself Although Kristoffersen is part of the Norwegian national team, he has his own team and is therefore not coached by the association coaches. Anders Husby, who set that controversial course, points out N.K.R. that all Norwegians drove well in the second round. “The knowledge is absolutely there,” he replies to Kristoffersen. “We have a team and we know what our runners can do. We hit the course very well because a second Norwegian, Lucas Braathen, ended up behind Henrik.” This matter still caused a stir.
