Sarrazin gives update: Getting better and better

French ski racer Cyprien Sarrazin feels he is on the road to recovery after his serious training crash in Bormio.

The 30-year-old posted a video on social media in which he thanked fans for all the messages and support. He is getting better and better, said Sarrazin. "Some news to tell you that I am getting better and better! I still need to work on my eyesight, but the tests are positive. Thank you very much for your messages and your support - they give me incredible energy," said the Frenchman.

It was the first time that Sarrazin himself spoke publicly after his accident. He had fallen on the notorious Stelvio piste in Bormio on December 27 and was rescued by helicopter.

That same evening, he was operated on in a hospital in Sondalo for a subdural hematoma, a bleeding near the brain. A hole was drilled in his head to drain the blood. It is currently unclear whether and when Sarrazin will return to the Alpine Ski World Cup.
