"Snow control" in a summer version on the World Cup slope
On the ERTA World Cup slope in St. Vigil in Enneberg, there was still no sign of snow at the end of July. Nevertheless, attention was already focused on the coming winter on Tuesday: As part of their traditional summer tour, FIS officials stopped at Kronplatz to discuss preparations for the next Audi FIS Ski World Cup Kronplatz with the organizing committee.

Also present were Peter Gerdol, race director of the Audi FIS Women's Ski World Cup, technical director Markus Mayr, and FISI representative Massimo Rinaldi, who also serves on various FIS commissions. As part of their inspection tour, they are currently visiting the organizing committees at Kronplatz, Cortina, and Val di Fassa, among others, to lay the groundwork for the World Cup races of the upcoming season.
Together with organizing committee head Danny Kastlunger, former president Willi Kastlunger, race and course director David Clara, Daniele Clara, and committee members Guido Vittur, Raimund Promberger, Patrick Complojer, and Diego Clara, the ERTA racecourse was inspected from start to finish. During the visit, the group reviewed the anniversary edition from January 2026 and analyzed the experiences gained from the tenth edition of the World Cup race.
The relocation of the start to a higher position was particularly well-received. This lengthened the course by six gates and increased the race time by several seconds – a measure that met with great approval from the athletes, coaches, technicians, and TV partners alike. "We will continue to use this solution in the future because it significantly enhances the race," explained organizing committee head Danny Kastlunger. There was complete agreement on this point among the FIS officials and the organizing committee.
Apart from that, only minor organizational adjustments are planned for the upcoming event. The proven concept of the race will be retained, so the women's giant slalom is scheduled to take place again under the usual optimal conditions on January 19, 2027.
As in previous years, the organizing committee has also declared its willingness to step in as host of a possible make-up race in 2027. Should a women's giant slalom have to be canceled before the Kronplatz date, it could be rescheduled for Wednesday, January 20, 2027, at the ERTA. The experienced team from Enneberg is well prepared for this scenario.
Following the slope inspection, a working session was held at the headquarters of the organizing committee "Al Plan Events" to summarize all the points discussed and determine the next steps. Afterwards, the organizing team bid farewell to the distinguished guests. The next meeting is planned for no later than January 19, 2027, when the 11th Audi FIS Ski World Cup Kronplatz will take place at Kronplatz.
