Shiffrin shocks with photos – Kilde gives insight

Mikaela Shiffrin caused a stir with pictures of the stab wound in her abdomen. Her partner Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, meanwhile, gave an insight into the sleepless nights of the US superstar.

Looking back on the past weekend, Shiffrin has mixed feelings. She expressed her gratitude to the fans, volunteers and helpers. She also felt better on her skis than ever before in Killington. "I felt like I was breaking through some kind of barrier," she wrote in her Instagram post on Saturday. "I felt good - until I got impaled, of course."

This shows that Shiffrin has a special sense of humor, which she obviously needs in her current situation. The two-time Olympic champion injured her leg in her fall in the giant slalom a week ago. a stab wound in the abdomen and severe muscle traumaAfter much speculation about the extent of her injury in recent days, the 29-year-old has now come clean - and garnished her written statements with shocking images.

"I am incredibly grateful that the crash was not worse," wrote the seven-time world champion. Shiffrin and her team watched the video of her fall several times. They then came to the conclusion that the wound must have come from the tip of her ski pole. "Perhaps it penetrated and I then rolled over it, which dug out the small cavity. We are just glad that it is only muscle damage."

A huge bruise stretching across her abdomen and close-ups of her stab wound - Shiffrin's photo gallery is certainly not for the faint-hearted. Her partner Aleksander Aamodt Kilde knows this too, and gave an insight into the American's current life on the sidelines of the World Cup in Beaver Creek.

“She doesn’t sleep well at night and can only lie on her back,” he explained in an interview with ORF"It's just tiring." As painful as the last few days have been, there are already small improvements to be seen. "It was better last night, though, and hopefully it will continue like this. Hopefully there will be less pain in a few weeks," said Kilde.

The Norwegian did not want to be tempted to speculate about the timing of Shiffrin's comeback. "I can't say. Hopefully she'll be back before New Year, but that's up to her to decide."
