Although skiing is an individual sport, and although everyone competes for themselves on the slopes, wonderful friendships often emerge. Like those of the two South Tyroleans Vivien Insam and Nadia Delago. When Insam announced her resignation in an emotional statement on Instagram on Friday, It didn't take long until Delago said goodbye to her close friend in her skiing retirement with a very emotional post.
"There are people who come into your life early... and then stay forever," begins Delago's entry, which is accompanied by several photos. "I started skiing with you when we were just two little girls—without knowing that we weren't just learning to stand on two skis, but creating something much greater."
The two Val Gardena natives stood by each other through good times and bad. "Together we experienced moments full of joy, laughter, and success, but also challenges, falls, disappointments, and tears. And yet you were there every single moment. Your presence, your strength, and your big heart made every step of this journey special," says Delago.
The 2022 Olympic bronze medalist concluded her post with heartfelt words: "You are not just a companion, you are a part of my story. And today I just want to say thank you. Thank you for always being there, thank you for what we were, and thank you for everything we will experience together."
