February 15, 2023, will forever be etched in Maria Therese Tviberg's memory. It was the day the Norwegian sensationally crowned herself world champion. The now 32-year-old snatched the gold medal in the parallel race in Courchevel, leaving behind, among others, Wendy Holdener, Sara Hector, and Marta Bassino, and celebrated the greatest success of her career. For comparison: Tviberg never reached the podium in an individual World Cup race.

Those days are over, however, because ski racer Maria Therese Tviberg is no more. In September 2024, the sensational world champion announced her retirement. A complete knee injury and the great fear of injuring herself again led to the early end of her career at the age of 30.

Tviberg didn't need much time to settle into her new life. In May 2025, it was announced that the Norwegian woman had a new job – as a real estate agent. Now, another new chapter is beginning for Tviberg: she will soon become a mother for the first time.

In several Instagram stories, the Norwegian showed how she was surprised by her friends with a baby shower. Tviberg proudly displayed a sash that read: "Mom to be." The former ski racer and her partner, Sindre Moeen Paulseth, will soon be a family of three.
