A special romance has blossomed in the World Cup: An Austrian ski heroine is in love with her ex.

She's one of the best slalom skiers in the Ski World Cup, and things are going just as well for Austrian Katharina Truppe in her personal life: she's happily in love. She and Matthias Millonig have been a couple for over a year.

Now Truppe has revealed a curious secret about her relationship: she and Matthias are not a couple for the first time. "We've known each other for over ten years, and were together when we were younger," Truppe told the press. Kleine Zeitung. The relationship broke down back then, but now the spark has been rekindled. Or as the Austrian woman puts it: "After a long time, things have really taken off again."

Incidentally, Truppe is also on cloud nine in sporting terms. Last season, she finished in the top seven nine times out of ten slalom races. The highlight was third place in the Flachau slalom. At the Olympics, the 30-year-old narrowly missed a medal, finishing fifth. Next winter, the 197-time World Cup competitor plans to be back in top form – with the support of her partner, Matthias.
