Kajsa Vickhoff Lie has been among the best speed skiers in the World Cup for years. This season, the Norwegian was consistently among the top finishers and reached the World Cup podium three times. It was another successful winter for Vickhoff Lie. But it was also a winter that ended in a rather unpleasant way.
In her last race of the season, the Super-G in Lillehammer, the 27-year-old Scandinavian suffered a knee injury. A large piece of cartilage broke off in her knee and required surgery. "I am incredibly sad that my last Super-G race ended with surgery," Vickhoff Lie wrote on Instagram.

She explains how the injury occurred: “I was trying to grab a gate, my outside ski slipped out from under me and my knee was unfortunately compressed. At first I thought everything was fine, but after further examinations it turned out that a large piece of cartilage had broken off.”
The result: surgery. "The operation went well. The doctors managed to reattach the piece, but now I have six weeks on crutches ahead of me. I'm trying to accept it and look ahead, but I'm really not a good person if I can't move and be active," said the eleven-time podium finisher, who added with humor: "Sorry in advance to everyone who will see me in the next few weeks."
