Slalom goodbye: Michelle Gisin causes surprise

On Tuesday evening from 17.45 p.m. there will be a women's night slalom in Flachau. There was a surprising announcement beforehand.

As the Swiss Ski Association announced on social media, Michelle Gisin will compete in the last slalom race of her career on Tuesday. "It was 12 incredible years and I am grateful for my 103 slalom races in the World Cup. Now it is time to invest my energy in the remaining three disciplines," said Gisin, who has always completed a mammoth program in recent years, in a statement.

The 31-year-old has been on the podium in the slalom a total of nine times. She also celebrated her only World Cup victory in a special discipline in the forest of poles. Last year, Gisin achieved her only two podium places in the slalom. Now, however, Luca De Aliprandini's girlfriend wants to focus fully on the giant slalom and the speed disciplines.
