Slalom final: Vinatzer shows in the first round

Alex Vinatzer is aiming for a conciliatory conclusion at the slalom final in Saalbach (AUT). After the first run, the man from Val Gardena is in 1th place.

The snow conditions in the 2025 World Cup venue are anything but wintry, and there were signs of a numbered race on the soggy slope on Sunday morning. While all runners with higher starting numbers were lagging behind, Vinatzer found his way around the marked piste well. With 10th place, the man from Val Gardena has the chance to top his best result of the season in the slalom (6th place in Palisades Tahoe). The second Azzurro in the final, Tommaso Sala, came in 14th place.

Haugan with a declaration of war

The Norwegian Timon Haugan is in the lead after the first run, followed by Linus Straßer (GER), 1 seconds behind. The winner of the Slalom World Cup, Manuel Feller (AUT), goes into the decision from fourth place. Haugan is aiming for the first World Cup victory of his career from 0,15:13.30 p.m. and with a win he could also move up to third place in the slalom rankings, behind Feller and Straßer.

The second run starts at 2:13.30 p.m.
