Anyone who follows the ski stars on Instagram has seen a lot of love lately. A wedding here, an engagement here, a romantic getaway there. In short: The stars of the scene enjoyed their free time with their loved ones and shared the moments with their many fans on the social network. Daniel Hemetsberger, downhill ace from Austria, is more of an old-school figure. His last Instagram post dates back to the end of March and is about a new bike he received from a sponsor.

There is no trace on the internet of the fact that the multiple World Cup podium finisher experienced a very special highlight in the last few weeks. Instead, Hemetsberger has now revealed in an interview with Tiroler Tageszeitung revealed his love secret. The 34-year-old from Upper Austria recently married his long-time girlfriend.

The wedding took place in the immediate family circle, and the two engaged couples exchanged vows in front of the registry office. "I didn't want to keep it a secret, so there was quite a stir in the village. My mom was asked what was going on," Hemetsberger told the TT. The downhill skier deliberately refrained from posting on social media, as well as from having a large wedding party.

The big party is yet to come

But postponed is not canceled. The big celebration is scheduled for after the Olympic season – "and then there will be some photos," Hemetsberger grins. The speed specialist has finished on the World Cup podium four times in his career, narrowly missing the podium last winter, finishing fourth in Kitzbühel.
