Shocking accident involving South Tyrolean ski legend
Former Val Gardena ski racer Peter Runggaldier was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident at the Pordoi Pass.

The 58-year-old was injured early Tuesday morning, according to the Italian daily newspaper. the Adige Runggaldier was riding his motorcycle when he collided with a cyclist on the road to the well-known Dolomite pass. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento for further treatment.TABLE reported). Runggaldier stood on the World Cup podium a total of twelve times, celebrating two victories. The Val Gardena native was a renowned Super-G specialist. The father of current ski racer Teresa Runggaldier competed in the World Cup from 1988 to 2000. Runggaldier also won the silver medal at the 1991 World Ski Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.
