Villnösser sweep the board at home Italian Championship
Despite a slight thaw, the Italian Luge Championships took place over the weekend. More than 70 lugers of all ages met on the "Ranuier Rungg" race track to compete for the titles of the 14th national championship. The athletes from ASV Villnöss were particularly impressive, perfectly exploiting their home advantage and winning all the titles.

In the women's competition, it came down to a hundredth of a second. Young Iris Runggatscher left the competition behind and secured the title after two narrowly fastest runs. She won ahead of Lara Peccei from AMA Wengen/La Val and her older sister Silvia Runggatscher – also from ASV Villnöss.
The men's competition was also a close call. Local favorite Patrick Lambacher was unbeatable this weekend. He defended his lead from the first run with a solid second run and fended off an attack from Christof Gruber of ASV Villanders. Matthias Frei of ASC Laugen-Tisens completed the podium.
Lambacher even managed to make the weekend doubly golden. In the doubles competition, he and his partner Simon Schwienbacher won the Italian championship title. Behind the Villnöss duo, the podium was completed by the pairs Mair/Müller and Frei/Frei, both competing for ASC Laugen-Tisens.
ASC Laugen-Tisens won the youth team competition, ahead of ASV Villnöss. In the general category, the ASC Laugen-Tisens team was once again unbeatable. ASV Villanders finished second, and ASC Olang completed the podium.
