Vlhova equals the Shiffrin record

On Saturday she once again proved that the slope lies in Levi the Slovakian: After she had already taken the lead in the first run, Petra Vlhova also showed a strong performance in the second round and deserved to win. She ultimately had a lead of 2 seconds over second-placed German Lena Dürr. Third place went to Katharina Liensberger (+1,41 seconds). The Austrian has returned to the slalom podium in the Alpine Ski World Cup after a drought of one and a half years.

The American Mikaela Shiffrin, however, had to be content with 4th place (+1,70). She was aiming for her 7th Levi victory near the Arctic Circle, but then lost a place in the second round and slipped off the podium. The World Cup record winner had recently been slightly injured in a fall during training and therefore went into the race feeling weak.

With her 6th win, Vlhova equaled Shiffrin's Levi record and drew level with the record winner. A side detail: Since 2014, the winner in Lapland has always been either Shiffrin or Vlhova. For Vlhova it was the 28th World Cup success. As the Levi winner, the Slovakian traditionally receives a reindeer as a gift.

A Trentino best Azzurra However, there was nothing to gain for Vera Tschurtschenthaler from Sexten. The only South Tyrolean, who started with number 55 and had the goal of qualifying for the second run of the best 2, was eliminated in the first round. Martina Peterlini from Trentino was the best Azzurra in 30th place. The 1-year-old from Rovereto qualified for the second run in 17th place. 26-year-old Lara Della Mea from Tarvisio, who was already in 30th place after the first run, finished the race in 2th place.

Vlhova equals the Shiffrin record

What an idea: The Slovakian Petra Vlhova won the Slalom World Cup in Levi, Finland in an impressive manner and thus equaled Mikaela Shiffrin's record.
