Baby bliss again: Ski ace beams in front of Kitzbühel

The world's most famous ski races are about to begin: This weekend, it's all or nothing in Kitzbühel. One ski ace has already hit the jackpot.

Bad luck in sports, good luck in love: This proverb perfectly describes Kristoffer Jakobsen's current situation. The Swedish slalom star is going through what is probably the most difficult period of his career on the slopes: For nine races, since March 2nd, 2025, the 31-year-old has been waiting to score any World Cup points. Jakobsen has either been eliminated or failed to qualify for the second run: It's enough to make the Swede tear his hair out.

But now these worries are overshadowed by a wonderful event. As the four-time podium finisher announced on Instagram just before the Kitzbühel slalom on Sunday, he and his partner Erica are expecting their second child. "Ted is so excited to be a big brother," Jakobsen wrote alongside pictures showing his firstborn son Ted and some ultrasound images.

Slalom colleague jokes

Ted was born just a year ago, at the beginning of February, and now baby number 2 is due soon. "Wow, you're not just fast on the slopes," joked Jakobsen's slalom colleague Albert Popov on Instagram.

The Swede will therefore go into the slalom on the Ganslern slope, which takes place on Sunday, with an extra dose of motivation. Jakobsen has the best memories of Kitzbühel: In the past two years, he achieved a fourth and a second place here.
