The little crystal balls in the downhill, super-G and giant slalom, plus the overall World Cup: If Lara Gut-Behrami goes all out in the season finish, then she could win all of these trophies. The 32-year-old is at the peak of her career and is driving better than ever before. But now, of all times, wild speculation is emerging.
Will Lara Gut-Behrami quit after this season? This theory is a topic in skiing Switzerland these days. Gut-Behrami has emphasized that he wants to continue until the 2025 World Cup. However, that could just be a strategy - at least that's what Tina Weirather, a former world-class athlete and current one, suspects SRF-Expert. “Perhaps she is trying to avoid the questions about her resignation,” says the Liechtenstein native Podcast on the edge of the slopes.

As the tabloid View Weirather explained: “As an athlete, you don’t particularly like being asked about retirement. That's why it's certainly smart to specify a longer time horizon.” Is there anything in a surprising resignation? In October, Gut-Behrami said in Sölden that she wanted to continue until the 2025 World Cup, but then added: "Maybe I'll think it's nonsense and stop." In any case, the pressure to perform for the 32-year-old is great. “I won’t miss this,” she said.
Or until 2026?
In any case, one can only speculate about a resignation. However, Gut-Behrami is always good for a surprise - and so it could well be that she stays on for another two years. After all, the 2026 Olympic medals will be awarded in Cortina d'Ampezzo, where Gut-Behrami was crowned world champion in super-G and giant slalom in 2021. We can look forward to the season finale of the currently best skier in the world.Edit Profile
