While only Dominik Paris and Giovanni Franzoni make up the elite team for the men, Among the women, there are four: Federica Brignone, Sofia Goggia, Marta Bassino, and Laura Pirovano. The 28-year-old from Trentino, like Franzoni, hadn't yet reached the podium before last winter, when she won the downhill World Cup title in March with three victories.
Gianluca Rulfi remains head coach of the Italian national team. Elena Curtoni will continue with the speed team for another season. This squad includes four skiers from Val Gardena: the Delago sisters Nicol and Nadia, Sara Thaler, and Teresa Runggaldier. Runggaldier, now 27, suffered a broken fibula, torn cruciate and medial collateral ligaments, cartilage damage to the tibial plateau, and a meniscus injury in early December 2024 and has not competed in a World Cup race since.
Anna Trocker holds up the South Tyrolean flag
Anna Trocker is a pillar of the South Tyrolean team. The 17-year-old from Völs am Schlern was, alongside Pirovano, one of the biggest rising stars of the previous season. As a highlight, Trocker even got to participate in the Olympic Games in Cortina, finishing tenth in the team combined event with Nicol Delago. She was even faster than superstar Mikaela Shiffrin in the slalom. At the World Cup Finals in Lillehammer, Trocker topped it off with eighth and ninth place finishes in the giant slalom and slalom, respectively.17-year-old Anna Trocker is South Tyrol's great skiing hope.
Italian Giada D'Antonio, considered a great talent at 17, just like Trocker, will be leaving the European Cup squad. D'Antonio tore her cruciate ligament in February. Two South Tyrolean athletes, Arianna Putzer (speed) and Victoria Klotz (technical team), are also part of the squad. Vicky Bernardi, 23, from Abtei, is no longer part of the national team.
